History

1978

Before the company was founded, a team of passionate people was designing and building solar simulators. Some of the first purchase orders date back to 1978 and were typed on a typewriter.

1983 - BelVal is Founded 

Belval was established by Pierre Beljean in Valangin, a small village in le Val-de-Ruz near Neuchâtel, in a small house that used to be a water mill. 

The name comes from the founder's surname "Beljean" and "Val" from "Val-de-Ruz." 

At the time, BelVal specialized in producing measurement equipment, including solar simulators.

Novel Designs

Numerous Solar Metrology systems in use globally today draw inspiration from Pasan's developments.

1985 - BV 21 Flash Pilot

Schematics were hand-drawn at the time.

2007 - BelVal is acquired by 3S

As Solar is picking up speed, a consolidation period happens in Switzerland where BelVal gets acquired by 3S, Swiss Solar Systems. in 2010, 3S will be acquired by Meyer Burger.

2008 - BelVal is renamed to Pasan

Belval was the company, Pasan was the  solar product line. Since Belval is now only doing solar metrology system, the company name is changed to Pasan and the company relocates to nearby Neuchâtel in bigger facilities.

2010 - 3S is acquired by MeyerBurger

3S is acquired by MeyerBurger, Pasan then becomes an entity of the MeyerBurger group.

2025 - Avalon ST Acquire Pasan

Facing challenges, Meyer Burger seeks to divest its remaining businesses, leading to Pasan's acquisition by Avalon, marking a new era for both companies.
