Cookie Policy
This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies used on pasan.ch and rent-a-lab.solar. We keep this deliberately minimal: what is needed to run the site, privacy-friendly analytics that use no cookies, and advertising cookies that are set only if you accept them.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small files a website stores on your device. Some are essential for a site to function (for example, to keep you signed in); others are used for analytics or advertising. We use no cookies at all unless they are strictly necessary or you have accepted them.
2. Strictly necessary cookies
These are required for the services you ask for, such as signing in, and do not need consent:
- ral_session, keeps you signed in after you enter your one-time code. HttpOnly, Secure, set only for the domain you are on; expires when the session ends.
- Bot-protection, a short-lived challenge used by Vercel BotID to tell humans from automated bots on the sign-in and registration forms.
We also store your cookie choice itself in your browser's local storage rather than in a cookie, so that recording a “no” does not require setting one.
3. Analytics (cookieless)
We use Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights to understand aggregate traffic and performance. These are privacy-friendly by design: they do not set cookies, do not store identifying information, and do not track you across other websites. Because they use no cookies, no consent is required for them.
4. Advertising cookies (only with your consent)
We advertise our solar-simulation systems and laboratory services, and we need to know which advertisements actually lead to an enquiry. For that we use the Google Ads tag (gtag.js, account AW-18253303967), provided by Google Ireland Ltd.
The tag runs in Google Consent Mode with advertising storage, advertising user data, advertising personalisation and analytics storage all set to “denied” from the first moment the page loads. In that state it cannot read or write cookies and cannot identify you; Google receives only aggregate, cookieless signals that let it estimate campaign performance.
If you choose “Accept advertising cookies” in our banner, Google may then set cookies on your device to recognise your browser when it returns from an advertisement and to attribute an enquiry to the campaign that produced it. These are set by Google, not by us, and Google acts as a data controller for them. Typical lifetimes range from a few days to about two years.
You can change your answer at any time at the bottom of this page. Declining, or withdrawing after accepting, costs you nothing: the site works identically either way.
5. Managing cookies
Use the control at the bottom of this page to accept or decline advertising cookies. Withdrawal takes effect immediately for anything set afterwards; cookies already stored can be cleared in your browser settings.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser, or use Google's own advertising controls at adssettings.google.com. Note that the sign-in feature will not work without its strictly necessary session cookie.
